We are a friendly and hard working bunch at The Loaf. From the moment our cleaners arrive first thing in the morning to the arrival of our kitchen and front of house team there isn’t a spare moment in the day. Being busy is how we love it and working well together as a team is how we make it look so easy!
JAYNE SELBY, GENERAL MANAGER
I was born in Wrexham but moved to Llandudno when I was 6 years old and lived there ever since. My first job was working on the summit complex at age 13, I worked there for 3 years, from there I went to work on Llandudno Pier, I have worked in hospitality all my life, hotels, pubs and restaurants in all different areas.
My husband and I came to work at The Cottage Loaf in October 2008, we had always wanted to manage a pub, we both love food and the buzz of working in a busy environment. It’s been a challenging few years but we have loved every minute of it! It’s been very rewarding to see the cottage loaf expand and grow into a popular, busy gastro pub it is today. When I do get some time away from the pub we love to eat out and try different places, picking up new ideas. I also enjoy reading when I have the time which as you can imagine it’s not very often.
KARL MORRIS, HEAD CHEF
I am 34 and was born in Bangor but have lived in Llandudno all my life except for 5 years when I worked overseas. I have worked in the industry for 19 years with my first job as a part-time kitchen porter at the Cambridge restaurant and ambassador hotel when I was 15. I enjoy making different types of curries and using fresh local fish. My favourite thing to eat is a proper roast dinner however I do love French cuisine. One utensil I couldn’t cope without a whisk! And salt is the magic ingredient…it brings everything to life. I have got a sweet tooth and love to try out new puddings and desserts. In my spare time I enjoy long distance running and running for the local running club but as a chef time is precious so I run when I can.

JEANINE CATHREIN, ASSISTANT MANAGER
I’m 28 and was born in Switzerland, I came over to Wales in 2006 and settled in Llandudno. I have been working in the industry for 13 years with my first job as a waitress in my parents’ restaurant. My first job in Llandudno was working in the Ham Bone, I worked there for 7 years then came to The Cottage Loaf nearly in 2012. Outside of work I am a Zumba fitness instructor and love anything to do with keeping fit which is great for working at the Loaf, you are always on your feet rushing around! I also enjoy going on mining trips when I can. I love food and will give anything new a go, if it’s fresh and it’s homemade then I will try it!
From the managers, to the front of house, the kitchen, the cleaners, and the maintenance team, without them all it wouldn’t be possible to be the relaxing and outgoing pub that we all know and love.
