Christmas celebrations

With Christmas just around the corner then it’s time to start planning!  Yes things will be a little different this year but we still want to bring Christmas to the Loaf in the best way that we can.  Christmas is still going to be a time to relax, have fun and catch up with friends and family, just on a slightly smaller scale! So why not do all of this over a delicious meal?  With our festive guest ales, mulled wine and christmas treats, the Loaf as always will have its Christmas sparkle in the atmosphere!

Under current guidance we are able to take Christmas bookings up to 4 people from multiple households (or unlimited people from one household) however should things change before Christmas then we will happily amend your booking.  Best thing is to drop us email on info@the-cottageloaf.co.uk or give us a ring on 01492 870 762 and we’ll do our very best to try and accommodate you during the festivities…please note the festive menu can’t be booked online.

All being well our Christmas menu will run from Friday 27th November to Wednesday 30th December 2020 alongside our normal menu.

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu combines all things traditional along with some new and original dishes.

Starters

Curried parsnip and apple soup with parsnip bhaji and candied walnuts (v,gfo)
Duck liver and port parfait with spiced cherry compôte and crispy ciabatta toast (gfo)
Smoked salmon, clam and mussel chowder with sea herbs and homemade soda bread (£1.50 supplement)
Roasted beetroot and feta cheesecake with crushed hazelnuts, rocket and balsamic dressing (v)
Pan-fried sea bream with teriyaki oriental vegetables, crispy noodles and toasted sesame seeds
Homemade black pudding rosti with a soft poached egg, hollandaise sauce and bacon crisp

Mains

Roast crown of turkey and braised duck leg bon bon, goose fat and rosemary roast potatoes, buttered new potatoes, pigs in blanket, apricot and sage stuffing, seasonal vegetables and roasting pan gravy (gfo)
Goats cheese, wild mushroom and thyme pithivier, roasted swede and carrot, saffron new potatoes, white wine and tarragon cream sauce (v)
Herb crusted fillet of salmon, lemon and dill crushed new potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, confit fennel, crayfish and brandy sauce (gf)
Roasted aubergine and lentil dhal, braised basmati rice, onion bhaji and mango chutney (v)
Braised blade of beef, sticky red cabbage, crispy kale, honey roasted root vegetables, champ mash and caramelised onion jus
Maple glazed pork belly, potato and black pudding croquettes, buttered cabbage and bacon, caramelised pear, cider gravy and crackling (gfo)

Sweets

Luxury homemade christmas pudding with homemade brandy sauce and redcurrant jam
Lemon possett with homemade ginger biscuits and pistachio crumb
Sticky toffee and date pudding with salted caramel ice cream and butterscotch sauce (gfo)
Spiced plum and honey fool with crushed meringue and coconut wafer
Chocolate orange bread and butter pudding with Nutella ice cream
Selection of Welsh cheese and biscuits with celery, grapes and chutneys (£2.50 supplement)

2 courses – £21.95      3 courses – £26.95

Booking

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu.  Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 01492 870 762 to check availability and book your table.

Maximum party size – At Christmas we appreciate that many of our bookings are usually large festive parties with friends, colleagues and families getting together to celebrate the season however this year we are sadly having to cap our Christmas bookings to 4 people from mixed households or unlimited people from one household unless rules change before December.

Preorder – We require your pre order 24 hours before your dining date.  Please return the pre-order form to info@the-cottageloaf.co.uk or pop it into the pub.

Deposit – A deposit of £10 per head is required at the point of booking.

Wines & Champagnes

We will happily suggest some options for wines and champagnes if you would like to organise these in advance or your party, please just ask if you want some help choosing!
