Christmas & New Year celebrations

Join us at The Loaf this Christmas for a warm, relaxing and friendly festive celebration.  The pub always has a great atmosphere over the festive period with many people out to spread the Christmas cheer.  We feature some great Christmas guest ales that are brewed just for the season along with steaming mulled wine.  Mix these with our roaring open fire, our cosy surroundings and our friendly bar team, and we really have a recipe for a fantastic Christmas!!

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu combines all things traditional along with some new and original dishes.  Our Christmas menu will run alongside our normal menu from Friday 29th November until Sunday 22nd December 2019.

Jerusalem artichoke and hazelnut velouté soup finished with thyme (v,gfo)
Chicken liver and port parfait with crispy smoked bacon, fig and onion jam and toasted brioche (gfo)
Smoked salmon mousse and king prawn tian with baby gem lettuce, pickled fennel, prosecco jelly, tomato concasse and crisp sourdough bread
Goats cheese and roasted beetroot fritters with cranberry, orange and ginger chutney, candied walnuts and rocket (v)
Pan-seared pigeon breast with pearl barley and pea risotto, pine nuts and sprout tops

Mains

Roast crown of turkey and braised duck leg bon bon, goose fat and rosemary roast potatoes, buttered new potatoes, pigs in blanket, apricot and sage stuffing, seasonal vegetables and roasting pan gravy (gfo)
Roasted chestnut mushroom, shallot and root vegetable bourguignon served with crispy kale and soya and linseed bread (vg)
Baked fillet of cod with smoked haddock, leek and monkfish chowder and marsh samphire (gf)
Lentil, thyme, cranberry and pine nut roast with braised red cabbage, honey roast parsnips, fine green beans, rosemary roast potatoes and herb gravy (v)
Braised beef shin and oxtail Wellington with horseradish mash potato, tender stem broccoli, glazed carrot batons and red wine jus
Treacle glazed pork belly with white bean puree, buttered savoy cabbage, roasted swede and carrots, caramelised pear and cider sauce (gf0)

Sweets

Luxury homemade Christmas pudding with homemade brandy sauce and redcurrant jam
White chocolate, black cherry and dark rum crème brulée served with vanilla shortbread fingers (gf0)
Sticky toffee and date pudding with Madagascan vanilla ice cream and butterscotch sauce (gfo)
Profiteroles filled with salted caramel cream served with Baileys and dark chocolate sauce
Coconut rice pudding with spiced plum compôte and toasted flaked almonds (gf)
Selection of Welsh cheese and biscuits with celery, grapes and chutneys (£2.50 supplement)

Booking & Pre-orders

Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person ONLY, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 01492 870 762 to check availability and book your table now.  Minimum party size of 6 people.

The pre order is required no less than 14 days before dining.  A non refundable deposit of £10 per head is required at the point of booking.  Please return the pre-order form to info@the-cottageloaf.co.uk or pop it into the pub.

Christmas Opening Hours

As much as we know many of our customers and friends would love to visit us on Christmas Day we want our team to enjoy this special day with their family and friends, and for this reason we will be closed for the day. But don’t worry the pub will be back open Boxing Day through to the new year.

New Year’s Eve…Live music at The Loaf

The evening will be a ticketed event with live music and a finger buffet (served at 8.30pm). doors open at 7pm till late. Tickets are £12.50 each and can be purchased from the bar. Please speak to a member of staff for more information.

Our bar is open all day from 12pm (tickets required after 7pm).

Our normal menu will be served from 12pm to 4.30pm.
