Glenfiddich (12yr) – One of the world’s best-selling malts, the famous triangular bottle a fixture in practically every bar on the globe. Light and easy-drinking stuff loved by millions
Glenlivet (12yr) – One of the most famous malts in the world. A soft smooth balance of sweet summer fruits and the floral notes of spring flowers.
Cragganmore (12yr) – The Speyside representative of the Classic Malts series is rich and spicy, with a very satisfying complexity and a well-sherried backbone.
Macallan Sherry Oak (10yr) – Matured exclusively in oak sherry casks from Spain to deliver a deep, rich, deliciously smooth and well-rounded flavour with a slight sweetness and touch of sherry and wood. Its deep colour is achieved wholly naturally without the addition of any colouring.
Balvenie (10yr) – Another very enjoyable sherried Speysider from William Grant’s (owner of Glenfiddich). Perfect as an introduction to the delights of single malt whisky.
Monkey Shoulder – Delicate floral notes are intertwined with a zest citrus orange and soft fresh fruits, hints of honey and spiky oak enveloped with a rich vanilla sweetness. They won gold medal at the international spirits challenge 2010.
Ballentine’s Finest – Ballentine’s Finest Blended Scotch Whisky contains no less than 57 malts which include Allied owned Miltonduff and Glenburgie. The Dumbarton plant is locally renowned for its ‘Scotchwatch’ burgular alarm, consisting of 100 odd noisy geese!
Ardbeg (10yr) – A really delightful bottling from the distillery many Islay connoisseurs would choose as their favourite. A whirlwind of peat and complex malty flavours, this is an exuberant, in-your-face whisky to be cherished.
Laphroaig (10yr) – A full-bodied, smoky gem, with a residual sweetness and a hint of salt amidst the seaweedy, peaty characters before a long warming finish. A classic dram.
Caol Ila (12yr) – Medium weight, but still packing plenty of potent phenols, this is a refined, powerful dram with a compensating oiliness. A balanced, peaty beauty
Bowmore (12yr) -Has a place in many hearts as Islay’s ‘medium-peated’ malt. A pronounced iodine character with plenty of pepper, the current 12yr bottling is a welcome return to the classic Bowmores of the 1960s and ’70s, with the emphasis on tropical fruit and smoke.
Lagavulin (16yr) – The Islay representative in the ‘Classic Malts’ series is a deep, dry and exceptionally peaty bruiser. Probably the most pungent of all Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted but inspires fanatical devotion in its many followers.
Talisker (10yr) – Talisker’s profile keeps increasing as more fans discover its intense coastal spicy, peaty character. A truly elemental malt.
Highland Park (12yr) – A very popular island malt from Orkney, Highland Park is smooth, smoky and heathery, with a lovely honeyed touch coming through on the finish.
Isle of Jura (10yr) – A very accessible, easy-drinking malt. Medium-bodied with a delicate sweet palate, with a hint of brine developing on the finish. A great introductory malt.
Auchentoshan (10yr) – A classic Lowlander, Auchentoshan, like most Irish whiskies, is triple-distilled for extra smoothness. A perfect intro to the delights of single malt whisky.
Glenkinchie (10yr) – Much-loved dry, fruity, vanilla-tinged Lowland expression of the ‘Classic Malt’ range. One of only a few surviving Lowland distilleries still in production.
Glenmorangie (10yr) – ‘Perhaps the most enigmatic aroma of them all… A great single malt: beautifully uncompromising from the first sniff to the last gulp.’ Jim Murray in Whisky Magazine
Oban (14yr) – The Western Highland representative in Diageo’s ‘Classic Malt’ series is a superb, full-blooded fruity malt with a whiff of heather and more than a hint of peat.
Dalwhinnie (15yr) – elegant, smooth and medium-bodied with a light, fruity palate and a whiff of heather on the finish. Part of Diageo’s Classic Malt range.
Bakers 7– Sour Mash Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey -53.5%
A powerful small-batch bourbon which utilises a special kind of yeast for extra smoothness. Rich and intense, this is a perfect substitute for an after-dinner cognac.
